On-line conference on the importance of digitization in the agricultural sector, in the context of the post-covid agro dialogues that AKIS Local Manubles is organizing on the relevance it has taken, and at the moment with more force, digitization for the rural world and the agri-food sector.

Ana Pilar Armesto INTIA specialist in GIS and new technologies and coordinator of the LIFE AGROgestor project, explained to the 47 attendees of the conference how the AGROgestor and AGROasesor platforms are the result of the work of 5 public entities that want to share their knowledge to provide services to the agricultural sector. She further explained that digitization in the agricultural sector is driven in many cases by the pioneer farmers and agrarian cooperatives themselves, who are ahead of others.

Digitization is a necessary investment, it is necessary to accompany and integrate the entire sector, and innovation and open technology. In this crisis, the agricultural sector has been considered an essential activity. Challenges such as reducing the digital divide, training in technologies, use of data in agriculture, public support, European funding through AKIS, Horizon 2020, Fairshare, Iconnect projects, were discussed during the conference.

Also participating as speakers were Miguel Ángel Arroyo Alcaráz, Head of the Technical Section of the MAPA’s General Sub-directorate for Innovation and Digitalization, Javier Zarazaga of the University of Zaragoza, and David González of Sustraiak Design.
